You’ve probably heard about the crazy fires raging in Southern California lately. This news story brings a whole new perspective for me. That is Larry Himmel, a reporter for News 8 in San Diego. He is reporting outside of his house- as it burns to the ground. The fire is your typical grass fire, I would imagine, but made one thousand times worse by the strong Santa Ana winds. Over 500 houses have been destroyed so far. There are usually big fires here each summer, so I understand how scary the threat of fire can be, but I cannot possibly imagine having to maintain a professional attitude while broadcasting a major news story, and watching your house and all of your possessions burn to the ground. Luckily, Himmel’s family and pets have evacuated the area, and are safe.
