It just goes to show. You can be down, feeling direction-less, and a little pathetic, and all that can change with one amazing concert.

I went to see my favourite band, Wide Mouth Mason, at The Chrome, which is part of the new-ish Deerfoot Casino. It was my first time seeing them all together in almost two years, a rarity for me, since I have been going to almost every show since I was 12. (I didn’t get to see them while I was away last year. But I saw Shaun -guitarist/lead singer- before I left in November 2006, and Earl – bassist- when I got back. But Saf – drummer- has been off at school, and hasn’t been around for ages!) I’ve even gone as far as Nanaimo, BC to see them! When I was underage, and they played shows in pubs, etc., I would skip school to go see them at the sound check. My parents are die hard fans, and I am fully following suit now that I am old enough to attend all shows.

Anyway, this show couldn’t have come at a better time. It cheered me up, extremely, I got to release energy by dancing around, and I got to chat with my favourite musicians (As always. They’re always so nice. And I always get loads of hugs. Ha ha.). The song “Smile,” really got to me this time.

Buried in the sky like a planet in daylight
Not hidden very well
I can only see half of what’s going on
But I’m alright, cause I can still smile
I can still smile

To answer Crystal‘s question: How about further education?  That’s exactly the plan, actually. It’s always been the plan. There just seems to be a few obstacles in the way.

Anyway, yes. If you’re Canadian, and you see my WMM boys in your area, definitely check them out. Or by their CD, or something! Just FYI: Their live shows are about a million times better than the CD recordings.
