My dad had a stroke yesterday. I was on my way home from work, and I called to check where my family was, to see if I could get a ride. Matt (my brother) told me they were going to the clinic. A few minutes later I got a call saying they were going to the ER. I went home, thinking maybe it wouldn’t be anything big, and that there was no point in waiting there when I could be getting stuff done at home. So, I went home, and waited.
Eventually, we found out that it was a stroke.
Now, my dad is in the hospital for… a few days at least.
You can probably tell by the disjointedness of this entry that I’m still a bit in shock. I really don’t know what to say.
Anyway, I will try to blog, but since I am the one with the most flexibility in my job (my supervisor already said I can take time off. My mom needs to work so we can have money, duh, and I’m not sure what my brother is going to do, but I think work might keep him occupied, instead of worrying.), I will be spending a lot of time at the hospital. Today we’ll be there most of the day, and then I don’t work for sure Monday or Tuesday, so I will be catching a few busses down there to spend the time between late morning and 5pm when Mom can’t be there. Then, if they let Dad come home for a few days, I will be the one staying with him. So, I guess there’s a perk to having a job that wants to cut your hours anyway? And one that is quite disposible…
Take care, everyone. And don’t forget to enter the MS Paint Design Challenge!
Aww Aisling *hugs*. I guess I don’t know what to say either, I’ll be praying for your whole family. My grandad recovered almost fully from a stroke, I hope your dad does too.
I’m sure your dad will get better soon! It’s good that your supervisor allows you to take time off to take care of your dad. Please take care of yourself too and remember that we are here for you.
*Big hugs!* I know strokes are nothing to take lightly, but I’m glad it wasn’t something even worse. Take care of yourself (and your dad!) and be with your family.
Poor Ling.
I’ll keep your dad in my thoughts. Try not to stress too much. <3
I’m so sorry this has happened to your Dad – I hope his recovery starts very soon and that your family will be okay.
Wow, that’s terrible! I can’t imagine how stressful you must feel right now. I hope your dad has a good turnout; remember to take care of yourself as well. *hugs*
That’s horrible news! I hope your dad gets better soon. I’m sure he’ll be able to recover, and as Robmarie said, take care of yourself as well while you’re caring for your dad. <3
I pray that your father will have much healthier and happier days ahead. Be strong for him, and he in turn will become stronger through you.
I’m wishing the best for your dad, and meanwhile, try to stay positive! *hugs*
Your family are in my thoughts & prayers, Aisling. Lots of hugs your way. Let me know how things are going.
Aww, I hope your Dad gets better soon!
If you need to talk just send me an email or add me to MSN. My father went through something similar and I know exactly what you’re going through right now. It’s pretty tough to see him in the state he’s in, but it sounds like he’s doing well. I’m very glad he’s still around to be with you, that’s the most important thing.
I hope both you, your father and the rest of your family start to feel better soon. And again, I’m here if you wanna chat.
I’m so sorry about your Dad. Hope he can recover soon.
It is really sad to hear about your dad, but I’m sure he will get better soon.
My thoughts are with you.
