I’m not really making any resolutions this year, because I think things are going pretty well, and that everything will most likely fall into place.
The other day, however, I was discussing with Clem how I often feel crappy for not commenting on enough blogs. I get quite a few comments here (when I am interesting), but I feel as if it’s not really flowing both ways. A lot of this is due to my incredibly busy schedule, of course. But I love this community, and so I really should try and pull my weight if I want to keep being in it (which I do!). But how does one keep track of such things and be sure they’re keeping to their goal?
Well, I looked around for something that would do it automatically, but the one thing I did find that sort of worked didn’t log comments from CMSes such as Textpattern and Habari (which some of you use), and lagged my browser, a bit.
Since I am a Twitter fangirl, I decided just to create a new Twitter account and use a Twitlet. Whenever I comment, I will click it and write “Commented on #this” (the hashtag inserts a shortened URL), and it will be tweeted! I could also add an extra note, or whatever… I’m sure you all get the idea.
Anyway, my Twitter for this is @aisysays. Some people have already started following it, which is cool, but I don’t plan on following anyone on that account unless they’re participating in a similar thing (that way I could find EVEN MORE blogs to comment on, which would be sweet and help further my cause!). So, if you create a new account and do something similar, please let me know. It could be kind of cool!

That’s such a good idea! :O
I may have to do something similar. Thanks for the idea and good luck!
Look at little miss trend girl starting trends! I think this is a very good idea, though. I think I’ll copy you *copies*.
I go through phases of commenting on (almost) EVERYTHING I read and then commenting very rarely…
Good luck with your quest!
I’m going to create an account for that as well as my spreadsheet. I love spreadsheets (so I MUST make one), but the Twitter accont will help me share with the world.
Good luck with this. If you’re anything like me you’re going to need it.
Wow, I didn’t know Twitlets even existed! That sounds convenient, and like a good idea… that way I suppose you can also call attention to blog posts you thought were interesting enough to comment on, for other people’s benefit.
I should probably also try to step up how much I comment on people’s blogs. Unfortunately I’m kind of shy.
Niftybobifty! I comment on tons of blogs but this would be a neat way to bring commenty types together. I don’t think I would create another twitter account for it because that would confuse me, but I could spam my main account instead
Hmm…interesting idea. I may do it, but probably not on my Twitter. I’m thinking more like a sideblog on my site or something.
I actually love this idea. Not sure if I’ll keep it up… you may have to kick my butt and remind me of this at points, because I really want to do this.
I think you’ve started a trend. haha
What a great idea to help you comment more, I am following your new account. Hopefully it will help me to discover some great blogs to read.
I think that’s an awesome idea! Not sure if I’ll keep up/do something like it, but I do want to comment on more blogs this year
What a cool idea! Happy New Year
I’m exactly the same way! I think I might just do the same thing!
It could be very handy if all the similar twitter accounts follow each other then you can find new blogs to comment on!
Seeing as I obviously changed my mind about “resolutions”, I think I might give this a go. It involves Twitter too, which we all know is a powerful motivator (LOL!). I shall follow you once I get an account sorted.
And I’m going to cheat and this comment as the first one!
Sounds like a great idea! A bit too ambitious for me, but I’ll follow you to see how you do.
Good Luck!
Great idea. I’ve decided to do the same thing, since I definitely need to battle my shyness and comment more often on other blogs.
Ooh, and thanks for introducing me to Twitlet. Pretty nifty.
What a cool idea!
I always have the best intentions to comment on other blogs, but the sheer lack of time in my day to day life (bit different this past week because of holidays!) makes it impossible.
I’d love to do something like what you’re doing, but I just know that it’s going to fail anyway…but, I’ll try and draw inspiration from you!
Yes… I might try actually clicking the “submit comment” buttons instead of just writing comments and never sending them.
Maybe I’ll even dare to try Twitlet.
You’re a smart lady. This is why I like you. I have tried using so many commenting systems that track comments but they never work. I would have never thought to do it manually. I am definitely going to copy you (and add you).
OMG Aisling, what a trendsetter you’ve become.
I really should comment more too. Also move out from my current sphere (book blogs) into more general stuff.
Nice resolution. I should comment more too, maybe that way I’ll get a few more comments on my own neglected blog
I think I will also create a commenty thing. But it seems confusing and I am a noob, so you should tell me how to do it, since I talk to you all the time anyway.
