It’s hard to believe that the first time I heard Lady Gaga was wayyy back, a year and 7 months ago, in August 2008– and I hated her. While “Just Dance” did get a lot of play from my iTunes, it was more because I am absolutely powerless against anything with a good beat and catchy chorus. It probably has something to do with brainwashing.
Then, Lady Gaga came out with “Poker Face,” which I didn’t really pay attention to because I was (and still am) in this phase where I really only listen to my iPod, because who can pick music that I like better than I can? Somehow, I did manage to catch “LoveGame,” though, and was put off by “I wanna take a ride on your disco stick.” Vommmmiiiiitttt.
Around this time, I started to receive harassment from Josh. He is a crazy Lady Gaga fan. So, I gave her a listen for him and… I still didn’t like her!
Then, something weird happened, and I saw her perform “Paparazzi” on the MTV Video Music Awards, and I thought “Ohhh, cool!” She is a pretty sweet performer, and I can respect that, considering my dance and drama background. Plus, “Paparazzi” is a good song. Much better than the “I’m an irresponsible drunk girl, (“Just Dance”) who wants to ride your disco stick,” songs ( I don’t know about everyone else, but when I think “disco” I think sequins and mirrored disco balls…).
Then, I fell in love with Bad Romance, and then she performed at the Grammys with Elton John, and it pretty much sealed the deal in my books. Also, I’m quite sure I saw some of her private parts during that performance. The whole world is slowing rounding the bases with Gaga, and I must say, I’m not one for that sort of relationship without some sort of emotional attachment. So, I love her.
She seems to be one of those “love her or hate her”-type performers, so… do you love her, or hate her?

I didn’t listen to Lady Gaga until the Grammy’s this year, and a friend ahs since lent me her CD. I think she very talented and doing the whole “being famous” thin perfectly. She dresses ridiculously, but it protects at least some of her privacy and she gets to have fun wearing things nobody else would dare.
Disco is commonly used in Europe to refer to a danceclub, but she does sometimes say some naughty things in her songs! :O
I love her. <3456 O: She has the majority of the positions in my most played list. Poker Face is one of my favorite songs, hands down. Bad Romance is also way up there. <3 I just love herrrr. As a performer and a musician and a person. Ah want her BABEHS.
I think I’m pretty much the only person left on the planet who DOESN’T like Lady Gaga.
I mean, I don’t mind her but I’m not going to actively listen to her music.
I rarely listen to anything that’s not classical music but I must admit I’ve been paying a bit of attention (only a bit) to Lady Gaga. She’s a great performer, and I read that she (co-?)writes some(?) of her songs. I’m starting to see why so many people become obsessed with her.
I think everyone saw her private parts during that performance. She probably just wore that to stop all the “Lady Gaga has a penis” rumours.
I still hate her. >:[
Rah-rah, ah ah ah, roma roma-ma, Gaga ooh la la.
Lady Gaga’s songs are friggin’ catchy, they really are. I didn’t like her music at first, either, although I’d really only heard “Poker Face” and “Paparazzi”, at that point. I still don’t like “Paparazzi”, but “Just Dance” and “Telephone” are addictive.
(Ssh, don’t tell anyone.)
My previous comment has perhaps my record for most typos in a post. >< ARGfksldgl!!1!
Don’t love her or hate her
I think my favourite song of hers is Paparazzi, and I like some of her slow songs. On the other hand, I hate Poker Face.
I feel…like I should hate her. Most of my friends do. But, like you, I really respect her as an artist. I definitely didn’t realize it with her first songs, but she’s talented and really does have a drive for it. I don’t even think the catchy beats are bad. The words, on the other hand…oh eww. I loved/hated bad romance, LOVED Poker Face (I’m sorry, I still do), found ‘Love Game’ hilariously BAD and ‘Just Dance’ got old fast. I do really like ‘Telephone’, while at the same time can be in a mood where I can’t stand it.
I actually don’t love or hate.
I don’t like her. The end. I’ve heard that she’s a pretty cool person (very active in LGBT rights and such), but I just don’t like her music.
Personally, I hate her. But then again, my husband (who likes her) thinks I have terrible taste in music. So, it could just be me. But, meh, not my type of music.
I used to love her more than I do now, but I still love her. I generally like her songs until radio stations start overplaying them. My first favorites were “Paparazzi, “Poker Face,” and “LoveGame” until the radio started loving those songs as well, and my favorites right now are “Speechless” and “Dance in the Dark.” I wouldn’t know if they’re overplayed anymore, though, because I hardly listen to the radio these days!
I recently saw a short clip of her performing before she was Lady Gaga. She was playing a piano and her music sounded somewhere between Norah Jones and Christina Aguillera. Now THAT was an amazing performance. I love the artist who she was in that video.
I think she’s great. I love the fashion, the music, and her obsession with dragging new ideas to light. She’s an artist. Pure and simple.
I like her music, but I’m not a big fan of her. I’m kind of put off by all those outrageous outfits.
... millions and millions of hints regarding her awesomeness: in other words Calina (my best friend), Aisling and Lil count as millions by my definition mmkay? My site, my ...
