My life doesn’t revolve around Facebook, but sometimes it feels like it does. It’s an excellent way to keep in contact with friends, and so generally, I am a fan.

I’m sure everyone feels a little bit annoyed when they have a friend request from someone they absolutely do not know, though. Sure, I get a fair amount of requests from my cousin’s fans (and turn most of them down, because, to be honest, it’s way too weird for me to have a tonne of 16 year old fan girls on my Facebook), which I don’t find too annoying. It’s pretty clear, however, when the requester has no mutual friends and is from a country that you’ve never heard of that it’s some sort of spam. And that’s extra annoying.

So, the other day I got a suggestion that I befriend Timothy Hopper. We had a few mutual friends, but I could not recall ever meeting a Timothy, and there was no other information on the profile, apart from a tiny blurry picture with a tree and some grass. Confused, I thought that maybe my friends had thought they’d introduced me to Timothy, perhaps at an event I didn’t actually end up attending, or something. So, I ignored the friend request, thinking Timothy wouldn’t want to be my friend anyway, and went on with my day.

I got a few more friend suggestions like this, sighed and clicked ignore, and that was that, for a bit.

This morning, however, I received a friend request from Timothy Hopper himself. I decided “screw it” and accepted the request. I clicked on his profile to learn more about him and discovered…

He is a rabbit.

Evidently, he lives in my friend’s front yard, and was much more visible on the large version of his profile photo. My friend has been taking photos of him for a few days and posting them, along with the odd status. Why his account is essentially private, I have no clue. Perhaps Timothy is afraid of Internet stalkers. The general vibe I get from him is that he wants more friends, though, so if you’re interested, you can befriend him as well. Especially if you’re not my friend on Facebook, I think it could be fun to confuse my friend (by having random people add Timothy) as much as he has confused me.
