These are my friend Lissa’s favourite Christmas treat, which she made for us on Episode 3 of The Ling Show!

Layer One

  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2tsp more butter

Layer Two

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

Layer Three

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Bottom layer: Crumble first 4 ingredients well. Pack into un-greased 9×9 pan. Bake in 350F for 20 mins

Second layer: Combine next 4 ingredients in heavy saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat. Boil 5 mins, stirring constantly because it burrrns. Remove from heat. Beat with spoon slowly until showing signs of thickening. Pour over bottom layer.

Third layer: Melt chocolate in saucepan over low heat or over hot water. Pour over second later. Chill. Cut into 36 squares (36? How precise!)
