Hey, my name is Aisling (say it like “Ashleen”), but my friends call me Ling, Aisy or Ash! I’m a 22 year old extremely liberal girl living in the conservative heartland of Canada. I am a past Katimavik participant, a current New Media student, a future know-it-all and an aspiring xylophonist. I enjoy cupcakes, bright colours, loud music and smart, talented people who read this blog!

Xylophone

So, here is my Facebook profile from last night until now:

I am obsessed. I think xylophones are cool.

Some songs you might not know (but I think you should).

Summer is a time for excellent music. It’s when I load my iPod with crazy tunes for all sorts of occasions– parties, relaxing, late evening walks, and more.

So, I’ve been going on a music spree these last few weeks in preparation for summer (which has finally arrived, rather late!). These are some of my favourites that I’ve stumbled across so far. You might not know them, but I think that you should.

Georgia by Alex Day – Alex’s new CD came out last night, and I was super stoked to get my hands (?) on this track, since I loved it so much on this video. You may recognize Alex from Alex Reads Twilight. Well, he’s also a very pleasant musician. Yay!

Listen to it on Alex’s site. | Buy it on iTunes.

C’est L’été by Tricot Machine – I don’t care if you don’t speak French (er… Quebecois), you must must must listen to the song. It is unbelievably cheerful and just wonderful to listen to! I have their whole album, but this is my favourite song.

Listen to it on YouTube. | Buy it on iTunes.

Say You Don’t Want It by One Night Only – Admittedly, I was only exposed to this song because Emma Watson is in the video (the extremely adorable video). But it is extremely catchy, just the sort of music that I love.

Listen to it on YouTube. | Album out in August!

Edge (End of the World) by Brock Zanrosso – Uh, yeah. I love this song so much. So so so much. Not even just because he’s my cousin, but because it’s catchy, and a little bit dramatic, and I have a weakness for songs that involve some variation of the words “take my hand.”

Listen to it on YouTube. | Buy it on iTunes!!!

Ch-ch-ch-check ‘em out! And let me know what you think! And tell me what you’re listening to this summer (or last summer, or the summer before, or…), so I can add it to my play list!

Lilian Tula is far too cool.

I have a crush on an adorable girl from the UK. (I mean, what else is new, right?)

I don’t know how she does it, but Lilian Tula just keeps managing to blow me away with all of her amazing projects and insights to design and language. She’s constantly experimenting and pushing boundaries and making me think. And every so often, she likes to take some of us along for the ride!

I submit, for your viewing pleasure, my personal favourite of her posters, thus far, because it features ME! I’ll just give you a few moments to absorb how cool I look.

The quote in the corner there? I said that. I don’t remember saying it, but I think I sound like a thoughtful person. I am officially quotable. Bask, bask, bask in my glory. Watch for more oh-so-quotable things coming from me soon.

So, yes, I am a Lilian Tula fan girl, and I’m just here to let you know. Check out her portfolio, her project journal or her personal blog (should you be fortunate to have access). On occasion I would also suggest stalking her Facebook, if you can. Yup. Do it.

Aaand, Dreamling’s look has changed again. Let’s face it, I am in a design slump when it comes to this site (but not when it comes to other design projects, funnily enough), so I customized the Twenty Ten theme a bit, and here I am, attempting to continue blogging. Look at all of those archives in the sidebar! I’ve been at this for ages, why stop now?
